Job summary

Imperial Irrigation District seeks a power trading professional to forecast hourly real-time electric power requirements, monitor load conditions, conduct hourly analysis, and develop trading strategies to optimize costs.

The role plans and schedules resources to meet demand forecasts, and negotiates sale, purchases and interchanges of electricity and natural gas with utilities, energy marketers, energy brokers and the California Independent System Operator (CAISO). Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, business, accounting, economics, or related degree required.
  • Five years of experience in power trading, trading analysis, power and natural gas settlements, finance or system operating functions in an electric utility or related industry.
  • Two years of direct negotiating sale, purchases and interchanges of electricity with utilities, energy marketers, brokers and CAISO.

Responsibilities

  • Forecasts and meets hourly real-time electric power requirements under general supervision.
  • Monitors power load conditions, conducts hourly analysis, and develops trading strategies to optimize costs.
  • Plans and schedules resources to meet demand load forecast, negotiates electricity and gas sales and interchanges with utilities, energy marketers, brokers and CAISO.
