Job summary

RWE Supply & Trading Americas, LLC in Chicago is seeking a Real Time Power Trader to optimize the value of a growing US portfolio. The role blends real-time market analysis, asset-backed trading and AI-driven decision-making to maximize returns across nodal markets.

The successful candidate will build AI/ML models, analyze market data from ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, NYISO, ISO-NE and CAISO, and work with Day-Ahead Traders, Analysts and Asset Management to continuously improve portfolio performance.

Qualifications

• University degree in Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or a related field.
• Experience with AI/ML, quantitative modeling or advanced data analytics, ideally applied to trading, energy markets or asset optimization.
• Experience with Generative AI / Azure OpenAI, AI/ML model integration, enterprise data & analytics and cloud-based solutions is a plus.
• Experience in an energy or gas trading environment, preferably with exposure to PJM, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, CAISO or ISO-NE nodal markets.

Responsibilities

• Execute asset-backed within-day and real-time trading strategies across US nodal power markets.
• Develop, maintain and improve AI/ML-driven models and analytical tools for real-time market analysis and trading decisions.
• Use AI and analytics to identify market patterns and trading opportunities.
• Deploy trading capital with disciplined risk management.
• Monitor real-time market conditions and adjust positions as needed.
• Translate Day-Ahead strategies into real-time trading decisions.
• Backtest trading strategies and evaluate performance versus benchmarks.
• Contribute to expanding trading capabilities across US ISOs and markets.
