Job summary

Forgent Power is seeking a Field Service Technician II to independently perform maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting on electrical power distribution and critical power systems. You will own assigned scopes, support commissioning, mentor apprentices, and deliver consistent customer support with minimal supervision.

The role covers LV/MV switchgear, transformers, and protection systems, with travel to customer sites and on-call rotations.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; technical schooling a plus.
5–8 years of field service experience with LV/MV switchgear, generators, or related equipment.
Must read schematics and one-line diagrams; perform transformer tests and oil sampling.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel; DOT qualification possible if needed.

Responsibilities

Independently perform preventive maintenance and testing on LV/MV gear and components.
Perform insulation resistance, winding resistance, and transformer tests; interpret results.
Support commissioning including pre-energization checks and functional tests.
Lead portions of job execution and mentor apprentices and junior technicians.
Document service activities, complete test records, and maintain field reports.
Ensure safety compliance with LOTO, arc-flash, and applicable codes.
