Job summary

SpaceXAI in Memphis, TN seeks a Lead Engineer for Transmission & Distribution to design, build, operate, and maintain high-capacity power systems for AI training campuses. You will lead a small on-site team to ensure energization on schedule, with travel to other sites as needed.

The role requires ownership of HV switchyards, protection philosophy, interconnection, and safety programs, reporting to the T&D leadership. On-site work is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related.
• 10+ years in transmission, substation, or generation interconnection engineering for high-power HV systems.
• Experience carrying a project through utility or ISO interconnection to energization.

Responsibilities

• Own generation terminals to the medium-voltage bus and utility relationship.
• Own high-voltage switchyard architecture and fault-current management.
• Lead interconnection process with local distributor and balancing authority.
• Own campus protection philosophy and settings database.
• Own campus power systems studies: load flow, short circuit, coordination, arc flash, stability.
• Own generation electrical interface: excitation, governor, synchronization, protection.
• Ensure regulatory and compliance scope: NERC/SERC standards and air permitting coordination.
• Manage campus electrical safety program per NFPA 70E and arc-flash labeling.
• Direct Design, Ops/Build, Protection & Controls, and Power System Engineer seats on the T&D team.
