Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States is seeking an Electrical Engineer 5 to design electrical master plans, power systems, and facility power for critical infrastructure projects. You will work with multidisciplinary teams across design and construction phases.

You will perform power system studies, provide technical guidance to junior staff, develop proposals, and liaise with clients; travel up to 10%. A PE license and 7 years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop basic to highly complex electrical master plans and power systems.
• Perform power system studies and calculations, including lighting simulations and layouts.
• Conduct site reviews to confirm existing conditions and align designs with site requirements.
• Contribute to the firm’s Technical Knowledge Management (TKM) program by developing papers and case studies.
• Prepare technical papers and designs for publication in industry journals.
• Collaborate with sales staff to develop proposals in response to client needs.
• Meet with current and prospective clients to understand design needs and develop technical solutions.
• Attend conferences and industry events to strengthen expertise.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
• Review and supervise the project work of junior engineers.
