Job summary

Actalent in Columbia, SC is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer focused on industrial power systems and PLC control, to design and review electrical systems from 120V to 15kV under senior oversight.

The role includes creating wiring diagrams, BOMs, panel schedules, and field support; requires 10 years of electrical engineering experience, power systems expertise, and familiarity with Revit, ETAP, NFPA, AutoCAD; PE preferred. Hybrid position with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus in power systems.
• 10 years of Electrical Engineering experience.
• PE license preferred.
• Experience with Revit, ETAP, NFPA, AutoCAD, and power system design software.

Responsibilities

• Collect and prepare data/information and perform detailed engineering calculations such as short circuit, voltage drop, cable/conduit/cable tray sizing, arc flash, lighting, and heat trace.
• Design detailed drawing packages including electrical one-line diagrams, installation details, bills of material, panel schedules, lighting plans, motor schematics, conduit/cable plans, and field wiring diagrams.
• Create specifications for various electrical equipment like transformers, switchgear, and motor control centers.
• Complete designs using the National Electric Code and other applicable standards.
• Work with and provide direction to electrical designers.
• Assist in fieldwork, checking installations, and engaging in problem-solving activities.
