Job summary

Electric Power Engineers, LLC is seeking a Power Systems Engineer with expertise in IBR dynamic modeling focused on NERC PRC-029-1 compliance. You will perform detailed bulk power system studies using PSCAD/PSSE, develop IBR models (steady state, short circuit, dynamic), and assess protection coordination and ride-through for reliability standards.

You will also prepare technical study reports, maintain data, and ensure on-time project delivery within budget.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering with emphasis in power systems.
  • 5+ years of experience as a power systems engineer.
  • Experience with NERC PRC-024-3, PRC-029-1, MOD-026-1, MOD-027-1, MOD-026-2.
  • Experience with power system impact studies: Steady State, Short Circuit, Dynamic Stability.
  • Experience with PSCAD and PSSE.
  • Experience programming in Python; AI/automation tools usage.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bulk power system studies using PSCAD and PSSE.
  • Conduct IBR modeling: steady state, short circuit, dynamic stability.

Overview

We are designing the grid of the future!

Conduct IBR Dynamic Modeling studies which are particularly related to existing and futureNERCreliability standards. This position will have specific emphasis placed on IBR plant dynamic modelingfor NERC PRC-029-1 compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed bulk power system studies using various power system software such as PSCADandPSSE.
  • Conduct IBR modeling: steady state, short circuit and dynamic.
  • Perform various compliance technical assessments on IBR facility rating, protection coordination, ridethrough assessment.
  • Process,generateandmaintaindata asrequiredfor other engineering related studies.
  • Preparetechnical study reports for all studies performed.
  • Take responsibility for thetimelycompletion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budgetobjectives.
  • Identify training needs and present them to the Engineering Manageras needed.
  • Perform otherduties,as assigned.
  • Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation under experience
