Job summary

Electric Power Engineers in Texas/Austin is seeking a senior Electrical Engineer to direct and manage a team of engineers performing power system analyses including steady state, dynamics, short circuit, EMT studies using industry software.

You will lead generation interconnection studies within WECC, oversee project delivery, interact with clients, and mentor junior staff while pursuing process improvements and business development support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering focused on Power Systems.
  • 5+ years in electric energy with power system studies or interconnection experience.
  • Familiar with PSLF, PSS/E, PowerWorld, PSCAD.

Overview

We are designing the grid of the future!

We are looing for a senior Enginner to direct and manage a team of electrical engineers to perform specific power system analyses including steady state (generation deliverability), dynamics, short circuit, EMT studies using various power system software.

Responsibilities

Howyou can make an impact:

  • Perform and lead Generation Integration and load Interconnection studies within the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) footprint.
  • Oversee the timely completion of projects while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.
  • Interact with Clients to seek input and address their needs and concerns with respect to the project(s) study scope of work.
  • Train, develop and grow the capabilities of engineers within the team and the larger organization.
  • Perform advanced and specialized studies of the power grid utilizing industry standard analysis platforms such as PLSF, PSS/e, PowerWorld, TARA, ASPEN, CAPE, and PSCAD (preferred).
  • Develop and review transmission study methodologies and processes and lead process improvement efforts identifying opportunities to enhance organizational efficiencies focused on maximizing team bandwidth while ensuring quality and timeliness of client deliverables.
  • Support business development activities including development of RFP responses & scope of work statements for clients, outlining EPE deliverables and projected completion dates.
Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering with a focus on Power Systems (advanced degree preferred)
  • 5+ years in the electric energy industry, with experience in power system studies, design studies, and/or interconnection process
  • Experience with PSLF, PSS/E, PowerWorld, and PSCAD
  • Experience in generation interconnection and transmission planning studies in WECC, CAISO a plus
