Placements24 is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of a key power plant in East London, Eastern Cape. You will lead engineers, technicians and support staff to ensure safe, efficient and reliable generation, while driving performance improvements and cost optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years in power plant operations, with at least 5 years in management or supervision.
• Experience managing operations for conventional or renewable energy plants.
• Strong knowledge of power generation technologies, control systems, and maintenance practices.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all aspects of power plant operations, including generation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
• Develop operational strategies to maximize efficiency, minimize downtime, and reduce costs.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Manage the operating budget, controlling expenses and optimizing resource allocation.
• Lead, train, and mentor the operations and maintenance teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
• Oversee the planning and execution of planned maintenance activities and emergency response procedures.
