Job summary

MidAmerican Energy Company is seeking an engineer for Walter Scott Energy Center in Council Bluffs, IA. The role focuses on planning, design, procurement and construction of plant additions or maintenance, plus monitoring unit performance and reporting heat rates.

The position requires a Bachelor's in engineering, 1–3 years for engineer 2 or 5+ years with PE licensure for senior level, and strong project management and communication skills. PE preferred or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• 1–3 years of engineering experience for engineer 2.
• 5+ years of industry experience and PE licensure for senior engineer; if no PE, 8+ years experience.
• Strong communication, analytical and project management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering services for planning, design and construction of project additions or maintenance to Walter Scott Energy Center's generation system. (40%)
• Provide technical project management for all phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections. (25%)
• Conduct engineering studies and investigations and prepare oral and written reports. (15%)
• Provide engineering assistance to other departments. (15%)
• Attend training in designated areas. (5%)
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0-5%)
