Job summary
American Electric Power in Lawton, OK seeks a Plant Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering support for safe, reliable, and compliant plant operations. You will monitor performance, improve heat rate, coordinate with operations, maintenance, vendors, and regulators to ensure continuous improvements.
Requires ABET-accredited engineering degree with 2+ years experience; master's may be considered. PE license preferred.
Qualifications
- ABET-accredited engineering degree with 2+ years of related experience, or military equivalent.
- Master's degree in engineering may be considered for entry into the organization.
- PE license preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support and technical execution for plant operations and maintenance.
- Perform structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis for failures.
- Monitor plant data to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Support reliability and condition monitoring programs (vibration, thermography, etc.).
- Maintain configuration control and technical documentation, MOC, drawings, procedures.
- Coordinate and support capital projects with vendors and internal teams.
- Ensure regulatory and code compliance with audits and documentation.
- Contribute data-driven insights to improve safety, reliability and efficiency.
