Job summary

Worley in Bastrop, Texas, seeks an experienced commissioning leader to drive pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up of large-scale power generation facilities. You will ensure systems are installed, tested, and operated for full readiness, regulatory compliance, and optimal performance.

You bring extensive commissioning and start-up experience in gas turbines and combined-cycle plants, plus relevant certifications and a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

Qualifications

• Extensive commissioning and start-up experience in power generation.
• First Class Power Engineer certification or Chief certification, or equivalent experience.
• Experience as Chief Engineer or Senior Shift Supervisor with accountability for operations, maintenance, and safety.
• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of Rankine cycle, thermodynamics, instrumentation, controls, and balance-of-plant systems.
• Proven experience leading commissioning planning, procedure development, and start-up execution for large capital projects.
• Solid project management capability, including scheduling, capital planning, and cost control.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Provide commissioning leadership for large gas turbine, cogeneration, and combined-cycle projects from planning through start-up and handover.
• Develop and execute commissioning strategies, schedules, and resource plans.
• Integrate commissioning activities into the overall project execution plan with milestones.
• Establish start-up sequencing, logic, and durations to support project schedule.
• Manage commissioning teams, vendor partners, and FAT/SAT activities for critical systems.
• Provide technical leadership across boilers, gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, instrumentation, and BOP.
• Conduct performance analysis including thermal efficiency and system optimization.
• Ensure compliance with standards, codes, and regulatory requirements; support safe operations.
• Drive a strong safety culture during commissioning and start-up; identify risks and mitigation.
• Validate operational readiness prior to turnover to operations.
