Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Power Plant Engineer to design and build a comprehensive power plant, including gas turbines, balance of plant, and startup operations. You will own commissioning in the control room during startup and troubleshoot in the field, ensuring reliable, safe operation.

Responsibilities include commissioning, performance verification, and coordination with OEMs. Applicants should have 5+ years with utility-scale gas turbines and a bachelor’s in engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with utility-scale gas turbines in commissioning, operations, or maintenance.
• Experience reading P&IDs and turbine control logic; familiarity with LTSA structures and OEM contracts.

Responsibilities

• Support installation, commissioning, startup, operations and long-term maintenance of gas turbine assets.
• Lead or support commissioning activities including combustion tuning and control system checks.
• Own root-cause analysis for turbine trips and degradation; drive corrective actions.
• Develop operating procedures, startup/shutdown sequences and abnormal condition playbooks.
• Interface with OEMs on warranty issues, outage planning, and technical issues.
• Plan inspections, hot gas path outages and combustion inspections per OEM intervals.
• Analyze performance data to identify efficiency losses and propose fixes.
• Coordinate with balance-of-plant teams to ensure integrated performance.
