Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Commissioning Manager (Power Plant) to lead the commissioning of a large-scale power facility, including gas and steam turbines, HRSG, and balance of plant.

This is a hands-on role, with time in the control room during startup and in the field during reliability trials. You will own the commissioning plan, schedule, budget, and staffing; lead the commissioning team and OEM field crews; ensure a complete mechanical completion package is handed over; and be ready to travel

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• 5+ years commissioning utility-scale power plants.
• Experience leading commissioning on multi-unit plants.
• Experience writing startup procedures.
• Willingness to work on-site during startups, nights and weekends.
• Ability to travel between generation sites.

Responsibilities

• Build and run the commissioning plan: system turnover, pre-commissioning, first fire, synchronization, performance test.
• Own the commissioning schedule, budget, and staffing plan.
• Lead the commissioning team and OEM field crews.
• Accept a system from construction only with a complete mechanical completion package.
• Start up aeroderivative and simple-cycle units and perform necessary cleaning.
• Own procedures, punchlists, deficiency tracking, and readiness decisions.
• Close punch by category, including commercial deficiencies, before operation.
• Own LOTO, permit-to-work, energization approvals through commercial operation.
• Commission controls with electrical and automation teams.
• Run tests and ensure reliability up to commercial operation.
