Job summary

Yes Energy is seeking a Principal Analyst, Power Markets Modeler in Newton, MA to lead the development of asset-level forecasts for the North American electric grid. You will drive modeling methodology, work with in-house tools, and collaborate with clients and internal teams.

The role requires deep expertise in grid modeling, market fundamentals, and economics, with hybrid work and occasional travel. You will report to the Director of Energy Modeling and shape data strategy across the platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field.
• Hands-on data analysis with Python, R, or similar languages.
• Foundational knowledge of NA power market fundamentals and regulation.
• Understanding of optimization modeling and microeconomics.
• Basic finance concepts including NPV.
• Strong written/spoken communication to explain findings.
• Thrives in fast-paced environments.
• Advanced degree preferred (MS/PhD).
• Experience with power market models and EOS tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop grid models and forecasts for NA electric grid.
• Monitor market trends in renewables, storage, policy, and generation retirements.
• Automate data ingestion and model result analysis.
• Plan and execute benchmarking to test model accuracy.
• Conduct quantitative analysis of external US power grid data.
• Explain market models and scenarios to clients and teams.
• Own evolution of models in response to market changes.
