Job summary

TDK Faraday Semi in Irvine, CA seeks an Applications Engineer to support development, validation, and customer adoption of power management ICs, including DC-DC converters. You will work with design, test, marketing, and operations across the product lifecycle.

The role requires hands-on lab testing, board development, documentation, and clear technical communication to internal teams and customers in enterprise, AI, industrial, and computing applications.

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of experience in switching power supplies and/or DC-DC converter operation, buck converters preferred.
• Hands-on testing and evaluation in lab using power supplies, electronic loads, network analyzers, oscilloscopes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for internal and customer-facing reports and discussions.
• Familiarity with PCB stackups, grounding, thermal management and EMI mitigation.
• Experience coordinating evaluation board development with external PCB layout contractors.
• Ability to review schematics and Gerber outputs in Cadence Allegro/Altium or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Participate in product definition, board design/layout, silicon validation and customer support activities.
• Drive evaluation board development, coordinate external layout work, and review fabrication outputs.
• Provide guidance on PCB layout, grounding, thermal performance, manufacturability and EMI.
• Review customer schematics and layouts; contribute to design reviews and technical discussions.
• Perform electrical testing, troubleshooting and data analysis to ensure valid product characterization.
• Support automated validation and trimming systems using Python or MATLAB.
