Job summary

W.G. Yates & Sons Construction Company seeks a high‑level Estimator III for its Birmingham, AL, Industrial Division. You will lead technical cost estimates for power generation facilities, including Pulp & Paper, Process Chemical, and related systems. Proficiency in Timberline and digital takeoff tools is required.

Responsibilities include bid packaging, vendor evaluation, and risk analysis, with periodic site coordination and collaboration with project teams to ensure accurate, competitive bids.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with heavy industrial focus.
• 7–10+ years’ experience in cost estimating for heavy industrial construction.
• Proven track record of estimating power generation projects ($5M+)

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed multi-discipline estimates for industrial power projects (lump-sum, unit-price, EPC, GMP).
• Quantify and price heavy mechanical equipment installation and BOP systems.
• Analyze drawings, P&IDs, specs, and owner solicitations for accurate estimates.
• Develop scopes for subcontractors, solicit quotes, and manage vendor quotes.
• Maintain cost databases and update performance metrics from past projects.
