Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. seeks an experienced Senior Power Generation Engineer to lead evaluating and developing primary, temporary, and backup power designs for AWS data centers.

You will own complex problems spanning multiple teams and drive decisions affecting AWS’s infrastructure strategy. You will oversee design development, equipment sizing, SLD creation, and specification writing while guiding cross-functional teams on trade-offs, safety, availability, and cost.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 6+ years leading power infrastructure designs in complex mission critical facilities with 4+ years in design or operations for power generation systems.
• In-depth knowledge of continuous operating redundant electrical systems and power infrastructure.
• Experience with diesel generators, energy storage, renewables, and energy resources.
• Knowledge of medium/high voltage equipment, substations, and integration of on-site power.
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, single/three-line diagrams, P&ID drawings, submittals, and ops sequences.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs and analyses of power generation sources to serve data center loads in grid connected or independent configurations.
• Support development of power generation configurations for primary, temporary, or backup power.
• Understand global data center fleet designs and future layouts.
• Interpret and develop Single Line Drawings, equipment submittals, and performance data to advance concepts.
• Provide feedback to Engineering teams for design revisions and upgrades.
