Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in VA/Herndon is seeking an experienced Senior Power Generation Engineer to lead the design, evaluation, and deployment of primary, temporary, and backup power systems for AWS data centers.

You will own complex power system decisions, drive cross-functional collaboration, and ensure safety, reliability, and cost effectiveness across global infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
• 6+ years leading power infrastructure designs in mission-critical facilities.
• Experience with continuous operating redundant electrical systems and UPS, switchgear, VFDs, ATS.
• Experience with power generation equipment: diesel, gas turbines, BESS, DER.
• HV/MV equipment knowledge and substation concepts; on-site power integration.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, SLDs, P&IDs and specs.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs and analyses of power generation sources to serve data center loads.
• Support development of power generation configurations for primary, temporary, or backup power.
• Understand global data center fleet and site designs.
• Interpret and develop SLDs, drawings, equipment submittals, specs, performance data.
• Provide feedback to Design Engineering for data centers and to Field Engineering for upgrades.
• Understand grid interconnection standards, microgrid design, and DER controls.
• Work on multiple projects across regions and lead within teams.
