Job summary

Reflex Robotics is seeking a senior to staff-level electrical engineer to own the robot's power electronics and power distribution architecture in our New York location. You will define requirements, select architectures, and drive bring-up, testing, and deployment of high-current power systems.

You will tackle motor inverters, battery management, EMI mitigation, and safe startup/shutdown while collaborating with junior engineers and external layout resources to ship reliable robotics solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong electrical engineering fundamentals.
• Deep experience designing power electronics systems (≈48V).
• Experience with motor inverters, motor drives, or similar high-current switching systems.
• Strong PCB design, board bring-up, test, and debug skills.
• Comfortable debugging power electronics with scopes, power supplies, current probes, etc.
• Understanding of tradeoffs across electrical, firmware, mechanical, thermal, and cost constraints.
• Ability to define technical requirements and drive architecture/design decisions.
• Experience taking designs from concept through prototype and validation.
• Strong communication and cross-team leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Miniaturize motor drives by reducing bus capacitance and switching-stage size, without EMI trade-offs.
• Design power system safety architecture: safe startup/shutdown, fault handling, and battery hot-swapping.
• Design and validate a custom battery management system.
• Improve motor inverter performance, reliability, and thermal/packaging.
• Diagnose and mitigate EMI across the robot.
