Job summary

GRAM seeks an experienced electrical engineer to own power conversion, distribution, switching, and measurement from architecture through released hardware in a SF Bay Area on-site role.

You will design motor-drive and pulsed-load stages, develop protection networks, and validate performance across thermal, EMI, and fault conditions, ensuring quantified envelopes and traceable margins for the integrated machine.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience releasing and bringing up switching converters, inverters, motor-drive or pulsed-power stages.
• Command of MOSFET or GaN switching, gate-drive design, current sensing and power-PCB layout.
• Built instrumented validation setups and measured efficiency, waveforms, and thermal margin.
• Closed hardware failures by reproducing faults, identifying root causes, and implementing fixes.

Responsibilities

• Convert actuator, magnetics, compute, sensing, and mission cycles into power budgets and thermal limits.
• Design and release switching power converters, motor-drive stages, gate drives, sensing, and protection networks.
• Model switching behavior, parasitics, control-loop stability, fault energy, and thermal margins.
• Bring up hardware with oscilloscopes, probes, electronic loads, power analyzers, and thermal instrumentation.
• Diagnose failures like overcurrent, shoot-through, ringing, EMI, thermal runaway, or brownouts.
• Define power interfaces across actuators, embedded control, energy sources, and machine safety systems.
• Carry designs through layout reviews, fabrication, test, and revision release.
