Job summary

Miller Electric Mfg. LLC, a leader in welding equipment, is seeking a Senior Power Electronics & Controls Engineer to model and verify control systems for next‑gen welding engines.

You will develop proof‑of‑concept prototypes, define reference architectures, and ensure manufacturability across divisions in a global market. You will collaborate with electrical, software, mechanical, and weld engineers, bringing theory to hardware and validating it on the bench.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree a plus.
  • 5–10+ years of control systems and power electronics experience, or 5+ years for an exceptional contributor.
  • Experience designing and stabilizing digital control loops for switch‑mode power conversion.
  • Proven multi‑kW switch‑mode design with SiC or wide‑bandgap devices, full-bridge topologies, gate drive, magnetics.
  • Track record taking concepts from modeling and simulation to working hardware and measured results.
  • Knowledge of PCB layout for power and mixed‑signal designs; familiarity with design-for-manufacturing and UL/CSA/CE.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and model the control systems for next generation welding engines.
  • Translate new power conversion concepts from simulation to proof‑of‑concept prototypes.
  • Create reference designs to speed market access with reduced risk.
  • Prove out emerging power conversion tech; ensure robustness, manufacturability, repeatability.
  • Collaborate with division representatives to align customer needs with technology bets.
  • Mentor the engineering community to raise the bar for control and power electronics design.
