Overview

Miller Electric, an ITW company and a leader in the welding industry, is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Precision Welding Solutions Sustaining Engineering Team. In this role, you'll support our existing product portfolio, enhance customer experience, and drive operational excellence initiatives. You'll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (electrical, software, mechanical, and welding), operations, manufacturing, customer support, and marketing.

What You'll Do
  • Product Sustaining & Improvement: Provide expert electrical engineering support for existing welding products, ensuring continued performance and reliability.
  • Design & Development: Lead and contribute to the design, development, and prototyping of system architectures, schematics, and PCB layouts; test and iterate designs to optimize performance.
  • Circuit Analysis & Optimization: Conduct in-depth circuit analysis, tolerance stack-up, thermal evaluation, and signal integrity to ensure robust designs.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Perform system and component-level diagnostics, conduct failure analysis, support field/application teams, and deliver resolution reports.
  • Strategic Component Selection: Drive component selection based on performance, reliability, cost, availability, and product lifecycle planning.
  • Comprehensive Testing & Compliance: Develop and implement rigorous test procedures; provide guidance and execute functional, reliability, and third-party compliance testing (UL/CSA/CE).

Qualifications We're Looking For
  • Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience: 4+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Hardware & Software Design Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in hardware and software design activities, including
    • System architecture definition
    • Component selection
    • Schematic capture and PCB layout
    • Compliance testing and documentation
    • Manufacturing support
  • Simulation Tools: Proficient with circuit modeling and simulation tools.
  • Communication Hardware: Experience with Ethernet, USB, CAN, RS-485 protocols.
  • PCB Expertise: Understanding of PCB layout for manufacturability and fabrication.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Experience designing and testing to UL/CSA/CE standards; knowledge of insulation, creepage, clearance, dielectric strength; EMC knowledge preferred.
  • Power Conversion: Working knowledge of power conversion principles.
