Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineering/Drafting & Design is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to support EPC projects for power generation. You will develop detailed raceway designs, duct banks, embedded conduits, and cable trays from concept through completion, coordinating with construction teams to ensure safe, cost-effective, and innovative results.

The role requires strong 3D modeling skills (SmartPlant 3D, MicroStation/AutoCAD), extensive NEC-based calculations, and the ability to work in a

Qualifications

• 8+ years of electrical design experience.
• Power generation experience preferred.
• Experience with underground designs from concept to completion.
• Experience in cable tray, grounding and lighting from concept to completion.
• Experience in SmartPlant 3D.
• Experience in MicroStation or AutoCAD.
• Ability to conceptualize in a 3D environment.
• Ability to work in a growing, adaptive, multi-discipline team environment.
• Ability to work independently with limited direction and oversight.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design duct bank, embedded conduit, cable tray, grounding and lighting systems from concept to completion.
• Perform NEC-based conduit and cable tray sizing calculations.
• Develop 3D models and check for interferences and constructability.
• Route electrical cables in 3D to generate a cable schedule.
• Model electrical components using vendor submittals and designs.
• Perform NEC-based pull box sizing calculations.
• Adhere to applicable engineering codes.
• Report progress and issues to project lead team.
• Coordinate with project team via the Project Database and RFIs.
• Verify voltage separation requirements are met.
• Ensure design is safe, operable, and maintainable.
• Resolve checked drawings and respond to comments.
• Support project development with miscellaneous tasks.
• Assist construction as field resource.
