Job summary

Qualifications

  • Degree in STEM with 5+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years.
  • Power design experience including transformers, inductors, filters.
  • Power-supply design and analog circuit design for feedback control, grounding, EMI, and validation.
  • Experience with bench testing and validating new CCA designs.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
  • Experience with Naval Programs (acoustics, torpedoes, submarines, or UUVs) is preferred.

Responsibilities

The Raytheon Hardware Engineering Organization leads the hardware design, development and production support of a wide breadth of air, land, sea, and space systems. The Hardware Engineering team strives to be the premier organization for mechanical design and development through our world class people and technology - creating trusted, innovative solutions to make the world a safer place. Hardware Engineering’s capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation. Within the Hardware Engineering Organization, the Undersea & Electronics Systems (UES) Department leads the design, development, and integration of a broad range of products, including but not limited to undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms, shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers. The UES department is looking for a full-time Senior Electrical Engineer to support system power and grounding designs along with system prototyping and troubleshooting. This role will be on-site and located in Portsmouth, RI.

What You Will Do
  • Support technical design with simulation and modeling of power systems
  • Hands-on testing of prototypes and troubleshooting with electrical test equipment in a lab environment
  • Participate in design peer reviews, resolve action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions
  • Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals
  • Occasional travel to test sites, test ranges, or suppliers is generally required
  • International and longer duration travel assignments are available but optional
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience
  • Experience in power design, including magnetic design (transformers, inductors, filters), power supply design and simulation (Simetrix/SPICE), and analog circuit design for feedback control, noise reduction, grounding, EMI, and system validation
  • Experience with bench testing and validating new CCA designs, troubleshooting existing designs, detailed waveform analysis and CCA component analysis/stress validation testing
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience working Naval Programs in the subject areas of acoustics, torpedoes, mine warfare, submarines, and/or Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUVs)
  • Experience with Radar System hardware
  • Strong knowledge of engineering design tools and processes
  • Proven ability to lead technical discussions to closure
  • Experience participating in production and test activities, as well as in design and development activities
  • Experience supporting proposal generation, both cost and technical

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and or the company’s performance.
