Job summary

Pratt & Whitney, a RTX business, is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to design electrical power systems for radar platforms. The role requires 3–5 years of relevant experience and proficiency in CREO or similar 3D modeling tools. On-site work in the U.S. with security clearance requirements is expected.

You will lead small development teams, collaborate across disciplines, and ensure design releases meet cost, schedule, and performance targets while adhering to DoD regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 5+ years of relevant experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience designing power/electronic systems for military, aerospace, or ruggedized applications.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and drawing standards; experience with data packages.
  • Experience leading small development teams and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Design and develop electrical power systems for radar platforms, including layout and distribution.
  • Lead design-to-production transitions and ensure smooth releases to manufacturing.
  • Perform tolerance analyses to verify form, fit, and function.

What You Will Do
  • Leverage your mechanical and power design expertise to develop innovative technical solutions.
  • Lead the design and development of electrical power systems for radar platforms, including layout, power generation, and distribution.
  • Manage design-to-production transitions, ensuring seamless design releases into manufacturing.
  • Conduct complex tolerance analyses to verify form, fit, and function for radar applications.
  • Provide technical guidance to ensure products meet quality standards, performance requirements, and compliance regulations.
  • Lead small teams to meet project schedules, budgets, and technical goals while driving process improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering disciplines, operations, systems teams, quality assurance, and suppliers.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on significant technical matters.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience.
  • 3 years experience in the design of power or electronic systems for military or aerospace or commercial applications.
  • Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience developing technical data packages and adhering to drawing standards.
  • Experience designing power and power conversion systems used in military or ruggedized applications.
  • Leadership experience in managing small development teams.
  • Experience with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software.
  • Knowledge of power design capabilities or have direct experience in power manufacturing and assembly.
  • Experience in selection of materials for structural, thermal, mechanical, electrical, producibility, and environmental considerations including corrosion mitigation and prevention.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams and external customers.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
