Job summary

Qualifications

Hardware Engineering’s capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation. Within the Hardware Engineering Organization, the Undersea & Electronics Systems (UES) Department leads the design, development, and integration of a broad range of products, including but not limited to undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms, shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers. The UES department is looking for a full-time Senior Electrical Engineer to support system power and grounding designs along with system prototyping and troubleshooting. This role will be on-site and located in Portsmouth, RI.

What You Will Do
  • Support technical design with simulation and modeling of power systems
  • Hands-on testing of prototypes and troubleshooting with electrical test equipment in a lab environment
  • Participate in design peer reviews, resolve action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions.
  • Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals.
  • Occasional travel to test sites, test ranges, or suppliers is generally required. International and longer duration travel assignments are available but optional
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience
  • Experience in power design, including magnetic design (transformers, inductors, filters), power supply design and simulation (Simetrix/SPICE), and analog circuit design for feedback control, noise reduction, grounding, EMI, and system validation.
  • Experience with bench testing and validating new CCA designs, troubleshooting existing designs, detailed waveform analysis and CCA component analysis/stress validation testing.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience working Naval Programs in the subject areas of acoustics, torpedoes, mine warfare, submarines, and/or Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUVs).
  • Experience with Radar System hardware
  • Strong knowledge of engineering design tools and processes
  • Proven ability to lead technical discussions to closure.
  • Experience participating in production and test activities, as well as in design and development activities.
  • Experience supporting proposal generation, both cost and technical.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
