Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Power Construction Inspector to lead electrical and site inspections in our Omaha, NE operations. You will document construction progress, coordinate material testing, and ensure compliance with NEC and industry standards.

The role requires extensive electrical experience, an apprenticeship or Master Electrician license, and the ability to work independently within HDR's employee-owned culture. Strong communication and team collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a recognized five-year electrical apprenticeship program with license OR State Master Electrician license and 5+ years of experience.
• Sufficient journey/master level electrical construction experience in heavy industrial environments and familiarity with 480-volt to 21,000-volt systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and document observations of construction progress for buildings and facilities.
• Inspect electrical, mechanical/HVAC and site civil components.
• Monitor, record and inspect project progress.
• Coordinate field materials sampling and testing (concrete slump, air testing, cylinders, soil compaction).
• Receive supervision from Senior Inspector and perform additional duties as needed.

In the role of Senior Power Construction Inspector, we'll count on you to:

• Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for buildings and facilities
• Conduct inspection of electrical, mechanical/HVAC and site civil
• Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects
• Coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders and performing in-place soil compaction testing
• Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical school or Associate degree
• Some demonstrated experience in construction inspection
• Ability to interpret construction schedules

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Completion of a recognized five-year electrical apprenticeship program and submission of an apprenticeship certificate, and a minimum of 10 years journey level experience, or possession of a State Master Electrician license and 5 years experience at that level,
• Sufficient journey/master level electrical construction and/or maintenance experience in a heavy industrial environment, with emphasis on work on 120V-480V systems and familiarity with high voltage( 480- 21,000 volts) systems
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and other appropriate electrical standards and specifications
• Experience with supervisor control and data acquisition systems (SCADA)
• Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Strong written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
