Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Civil Construction Inspector to lead observations on civil infrastructure projects such as roads and pipelines. You will mentor junior staff, collaborate with project managers, and interpret drawings to ensure contract compliance and safety on site.

Role requires a minimum of 5 years in construction inspection, high school diploma or equivalent, and proficiency with MS Office; a technical/associate degree is preferred. On-site position in Fort Worth, Texas.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent (Candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in construction inspection
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Active participant in HDR's employee-owned culture

Responsibilities

Environmental, Operations and Construction (EOC) operates within HDR’s Federal Business Group, capable of delivering services across all HDR business groups at any location. Our work is performed by our professional staff, scientists and engineers at remote sites, embedded in client office space or our own facilities. EOC delivers quality engineering, environmental, and construction management services at competitive prices.

In the role of Senior Civil Construction Inspector, we’ll count on you to:

  • Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations and pipelines
  • Mentor junior field staff and provide supervision as needed
  • Collaborate with other field representatives or Project Managers
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents
  • Serve as the most senior inspector on projects as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Be knowledgeable in and capable of applying applicable ASTM standards, including, but not limited to: ASTM D558, D698, D1556, D1632, D1633, D2216, D2487, D6913, and D6938, as required to verify compliance with contract requirements
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience
  • Technical school or Associate's degree
  • Relevant Industry Certifications
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules
