Job summary

Vimo is seeking a Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator to design, implement, and optimize PostgreSQL environments powering our SaaS platform for state-based health programs. You will ensure high availability, security, and scalable performance across production systems supporting millions of users.

You will collaborate with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to migrate, upgrade, and harden the database tier, using IaC and automation tools. Strong Python/Bash scripting required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years hands-on PostgreSQL DBA experience in production.
• Deep PostgreSQL internals knowledge (MVCC, WAL, vacuum, replication).
• Experience with high-availability architectures (Patroni, repmgr).
• Experience with cloud-hosted PostgreSQL (AWS RDS/Aurora).
• Strong scripting skills for automation (Bash, Python).

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain PostgreSQL clusters in prod, staging, and development.
• Ensure high availability, DR, and backups with tested recovery procedures.
• Monitor performance, optimize queries, indexing, and configuration.
• Plan upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime.
• Enforce database security best practices and access control.
• Collaborate with devs on schema design and performance reviews.
• Manage PostgreSQL across AWS/GCP/Azure environments.
