Job summary

Spectraforce Technologies is seeking a Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator to migrate and manage mission-critical PostgreSQL environments across on-premises and AWS. You will drive performance, security, backups, and high-availability initiatives in a hybrid Oakland-based setup.

The role requires deep PostgreSQL expertise, strong AWS skills, and hands-on experience with Terraform, DMS, and PITR to ensure resilient, scalable databases that meet SLAs across development, QA, and production

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• 12+ years of Database Administration experience.
• 8+ years of PostgreSQL Database Administration experience.
• 5+ years of AWS cloud database administration experience.
• Strong experience managing mission-critical production databases.
• Proven experience with PostgreSQL upgrades, migrations, and performance tuning.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• AWS Certified Database Specialty.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate/Professional.
• PostgreSQL Professional Certification.
• Experience with Enterprise Monitoring tools.
• Experience supporting large-scale utility, financial or regulated environments.
• Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized PostgreSQL environments.
• Experience with pgBouncer, Pgpool-II, Patroni, or similar PostgreSQL HA solutions.

Responsibilities

• Migrate and support mission-critical PostgreSQL databases across on-premises and AWS.
• Administer, monitor, secure, backup and recover PostgreSQL databases, and ensure high availability.
• Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
• Manage database security, user roles, permissions, and encryption.
• Troubleshoot production incidents and perform root-cause analysis.
• Support production, development, test, QA, and disaster recovery environments.
• Plan capacity, workload analysis, and growth forecasting.
• Provide on-call support and manage critical database operations.
• Implement and validate backup and recovery procedures (PITR).
• Design and maintain HA architectures and replication health.
