Job summary

Deloitte’s GPS practice in the United States seeks a Database Administration Managed Services Engineer III to support PostgreSQL and Azure DB environments in production.

The role administers and tunes PostgreSQL databases, supports development teams with deployments and schema changes, and monitors Azure Cosmos DB to meet availability and performance goals. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• 3+ years of experience administering PostgreSQL databases in production environments
• 3+ years of experience with database performance optimization, query tuning, and table tuning
• 2+ years of experience administering Microsoft Azure databases, including Azure Cosmos DB
• 2+ years of experience supporting application development teams with database operations, deployments, and schema changes
• 2+ years of experience performing database backup, recovery, monitoring, and maintenance activities

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain PostgreSQL database environments supporting application and operational needs
• Analyze and optimize database performance, including query tuning, table tuning, and configuration updates
• Support database operations for development teams, including deployments, schema changes, troubleshooting, and issue resolution
• Manage and monitor Microsoft Azure database platforms, including Azure Cosmos DB, to support availability and performance objectives
• Perform database maintenance activities such as backup, recovery, patching, capacity planning, and performance monitoring
