Job summary

John Hancock is seeking a seasoned IRCS analyst to work across portfolios, developing risk insights and quantitative analytics. You will understand investment philosophies, assess risks, and provide actionable recommendations to portfolio managers and senior leaders.

The role combines independent risk oversight with analytical support to ensure portfolios adhere to their investment processes and risk parameters. Strong programming in R/Python and 5+ years of relevant experience are essential.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quantitative, investment risk, portfolio construction, or related investment field.
Strong programming skills in R and/or Python, with experience working with financial and portfolio data.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear investment insights.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary risk and portfolio construction analyst for an assigned group of portfolios.
Partner with portfolio managers to evaluate portfolio risks and construction decisions.
Independently monitor portfolios for alignment with stated processes and risk parameters.
Conduct quantitative portfolio analysis including factor exposures, concentration, liquidity, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
Present portfolio analysis and risk insights clearly to portfolio managers and senior stakeholders.
Develop and enhance analytical tools and workflows using R and Python.
