Job summary

AECOM seeks a Senior Port/Rail Engineer – Project Manager to lead multi‑discipline port, rail, and goods movement projects based in Raleigh, NC, Wilmington, NC, or North Charleston, SC. You will guide delivery from planning through construction and mentor teams across the region.

Requires PE license and 8+ years in Ports/Marine or Freight Rail with strong leadership and client-relations skills. Travel may be required; relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Engineering discipline required.
• PE license required.
• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Serve as Project Manager and Technical Lead on complex, multi-disciplinary Port and Rail projects.
• Oversee planning, design, and delivery of port cargo terminals, intermodal terminals, marine structures, freight rail, and related facilities.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
• Provide quality assurance and ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes, and client requirements.
• Support development of project scopes, estimates, budgets, schedules, and resource plans.
• Foster collaborative culture, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and support the professional development of engineering staff across disciplines.
• Represent AECOM at industry events, client meetings, and public forums as a subject matter expert.
• Support business development for regional engineering disciplines, client engagement, proposals, and pursuit strategy.
• Participate in client pre-positioning, market research, and capture planning.
• Assist in identifying opportunities and go/no-go decisions through client intelligence.
