Job summary

Crowley is seeking a Port Engineer to oversee the maintenance, repair, and safe operations of assigned vessels and equipment. You will provide flexible technical and engineering support across Crowley Government Services’ managed fleets while coordinating with shipyards and suppliers.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in marine engineering, a Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, and preferably a USCG license. This hybrid role is located in Jacksonville, FL or Norfolk, VA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering required; USCG license preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years marine engineering experience; sailing onboard vessel or port engineering background acceptable.
  • Experience negotiating shipyard dry-docking availabilities and managing multi-million-dollar repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee maintenance, repair and safe operations of assigned vessels and equipment.
  • Provide flexible technical and engineering support across Crowley Government Services’ managed fleets.
  • Develop repair specifications and manage vessel repairs with contractors and shipyards.
  • Monitor regulatory inspections, budgeting, and cost controls; create and track maintenance costs.
  • Prepare maintenance plans, cost estimates, and schedules for capital projects.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Safety, Procurement, and Fleet Management teams to support operations.
