Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking a Pool Medical Laboratory Scientist III to perform a wide range of approved laboratory procedures across licensed specialties. The role requires precise testing, quality control, and independent work in a high-volume lab environment.

The candidate must hold Florida (or Compact State) licensure as a Clinical Lab Technologist, with ASCP or AMT certification, and be proficient with LIS/HIS systems.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree Medical Laboratory Technology or Bachelor's Degree Biology or Chemistry.
• Must be licensed in Florida or a Compact State as Clinical Lab Technologist.
• ASCP or AMT certification required.
• License in 3 of 5 primary specialties: Microbiology, Serology, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Immunohematology.

Responsibilities

• Perform work according to established laboratory policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently in all FL-licensed areas.
• Perform quality control for all tests and report results.
• Assess specimen integrity for appropriateness of tests.
• Ensure results meet age-specific criteria for geriatrics, adults, pediatrics and neonates.
• Complete calibrations and maintenance on instruments per manufacturers, CLIA, and TJC.
• Complete proficiency testing samples within required timeframes.
• Utilize LIS and HIS computer systems.
