King County is seeking a Policy Manager IV to lead the Hazardous Waste Management Policy team, shaping upstream policy and legislative strategies while guiding a staff of policy professionals. Reporting to the Program Director, this role emphasizes equity, strong collaboration, and strategic leadership to advance the program's mission.

The position focuses on policy analysis, intergovernmental coordination, and implementing innovative policies to reduce toxic exposures and protect public health

Qualifications

• Progressive leadership experience in public sector policy, program, and project management.

Responsibilities

• Policy and Analysis – Leads and analyzes policy initiatives, engages in legislative and rule-making engagement, and management of policy planning.
• Program, Team and Staff Management – Leads and supports a professional team by providing direction, project oversight, and fostering a collaborative, strategic environment.
• Advance Program Goals – Advances program goals by protecting public health and the environment, promoting equity and environmental justice.
• Intergovernmental and Strategic Partnerships – Leads cross-agency coordination and strategic partnerships with regional and state partners.
• Strategic Program Leadership and Cross-Agency Coordination – Provides senior leadership in long-range policy strategy and data-informed decisions.
