Oversight Board Administration in Washington, DC, invites applicants for a policy and research role supporting decisions and PAOs on content governance and AI-related issues. The role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams, engaging external experts, and contributing to human rights-based evaluations.

Ideal candidates bring master’s level education, strong policy research skills, and a commitment to transparency and accountability in platform governance across time zones.

Qualifications

• Degree educated, preferably at a master’s level, in a discipline relevant to content governance by social media and its impacts on societies.
• Knowledge and experience of social media companies’ approaches to trust and safety and the design and evaluation of at-scale systems for content governance.
• Experience with or demonstrated interest in human-rights based evaluations of large language models (LLMs).

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced policy expertise and substantive support to the Oversight Board in developing decisions in cases and policy positions, serving as the main focal point for panels.
• Research, draft, and present briefing materials to the Board, sourcing external expertise and evaluating Meta’s policies and content governance practices.
• Support the Board Members drafting case decisions and policy advisory opinions (PAOs).
• Support the development of human rights-based AI governance principles, including through evaluations of large language models (LLMs).
• Be proactively engaged in academic, civil society and industry discussions on social media platform and AI governance issues.
• Coordinate with project managers to assist Oversight Board Members through the process of deliberating and deciding cases and PAOs.
