Job summary

Anthropic, with offices in San Francisco, New York City, and Washington, is seeking a Policy Development professional to translate technical insights into policy proposals and oversee safety governance across labs.

You will drive technical safety practices, review legislation, and develop novel policy ideas addressing AI R&D acceleration, collaborating with researchers, policy colleagues, legal, and safety teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
• Field relevant to policy/governance demonstrated through coursework or experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical safety best practices and standards for frontier development in collaboration with policy, research, and safeguards teams.
• Represent Anthropic in cross-lab and standards initiatives and groups.
• Review and provide input on federal, state, and global frontier AI safety bills, including risk reporting and incident reporting, to shape policy.
• Strengthen the frontier AI legislative framework with external affairs policy teams.
• Contribute research and novel policy proposals addressing AI R&D acceleration.
