Job summary

Harnham is seeking a Senior Strategy Analyst for a nonprofit focused on housing access and reducing child poverty. You will turn ambiguous policy questions into actionable analyses for government stakeholders, using public datasets and rigorous statistics.

Role requires efficiency with limited resources, strong communication, and the ability to advise senior leaders. Hybrid or remote in the US with a salary range of $100,000–$140,000.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree (or PhD) required.
• Strong statistical analysis skills with proficiency in R, Python, or Stata.
• Experience with public datasets and data cleaning/interpretation.
• Experience in nonprofit, government, or think tank settings.
• Ability to navigate ambiguous requests and communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Partner with city officials, foundations and stakeholders to define analytical approach.
• Identify and combine public datasets (ACS, CDC data, Ed data, Feeding America, state/local sources).
• Work with incomplete data including FOIA data to develop credible analyses.
• Apply regression, hypothesis testing, and causal inference while noting limitations.
• Translate findings into policy and resource allocation recommendations.
• Present analyses and recommendations to senior government and policy leaders.
