Job summary

NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development seeks a Senior Advisor for Mitchell-Lama oversight within the Office of Asset and Property Management. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred in public policy, urban planning, housing, law, or related field.
• At least five years of progressively responsible experience in affordable housing, government oversight, regulatory compliance, public policy, housing law, program evaluation, auditing, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive-level policy guidance on Mitchell-Lama oversight and related governance matters.
• Conduct independent reviews of policies, procedures, and cases affecting the Mitchell-Lama portfolio.
• Assess consistency with laws, regulations, and agency priorities; identify systemic risks.
• Develop revisions or new policies to strengthen oversight and preserve affordability.
• Coordinate across divisions to implement executive directives and monitor progress.
• Prepare briefing materials, issue papers, and recommendations for senior leadership.
