Job summary

Atoms seeks a Senior Product Manager to own the operator and in-vehicle experience across our autonomous platforms. You will shape how the system communicates state, intent, confidence, and fault handling to the person in the vehicle and to operators on site.

You will partner with hardware, safety, and field teams to define requirements, drive the roadmap, and validate with real operators. This role requires onsite work in San Francisco and regular travel to customer sites, including

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical, design, human factors, or related field and 3+ years in product management.
• End-to-end ownership of a human-facing product in production from requirements through release and measured adoption.
• Experience owning human-machine interface products in automotive, aviation, heavy equipment, industrial controls, medical devices, or similar domains.
• Experience designing for constrained operating conditions such as heavy vibration, glare, and limited connectivity.
• Demonstrated human factors practice with usability testing on real users and measuring comprehension and response.
• Collaboration with industrial design, hardware engineering, and safety engineering on physical and digital surfaces.
• Ability to establish and hold product/design direction across cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written communication across requirements, specs, and decision records.
• Delivery in environments where product, autonomy system, and customer operations develop concurrently.
• Willingness to work onsite five days a week in San Francisco and travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Own the operator and in-vehicle experience across autonomous platforms.
• Define device communications of state, intent, confidence, fault handling, and control transfer.
• Own the experience for operators around autonomous machines and on-site supervision.
• Define safety-critical interaction requirements and degradation handling.
• Lead validation with real operators, measuring comprehension and response times.
• Own software interfaces and hardware controls surfaces and coordinate with hardware design.
• Collaborate with training and field operations to minimize required training.
• Maintain product requirements, roadmap, intake, and prioritization with engineering.
• Conduct field research with operators and translate findings into product decisions.
• Partner with engineering, safety, hardware, and deployment teams to represent products to customers.
