Job summary

Stratus is seeking a Senior Project Manager II for plumbing and fire protection in New York. You will manage a small design team, oversee investigations, design, and construction administration for ground-up multifamily and mixed-use projects, ensuring code compliance and constructability.

The role requires a PE license (preferred), NYC regulatory experience, and strong mentoring skills. You’ll coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and schedules, and communicate effectively

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field required.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience designing plumbing and fire-protection systems across various project types.
• Experience in New York City and Tri-State Area regulatory environments preferred.
• Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD for mentoring junior staff.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Confident presenter with sound commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

• Manage technical and administrative aspects of plumbing and fire-protection design opportunities from proposal to final acceptance, including invoicing.
• Review site investigation data and ensure reports are clear and client-friendly.
• Lead design across projects including multifamily, commercial, and industrial with water/waste/gas distribution and sprinkler systems.
• Supervise staff designers and engineers to produce drawings and specs per codes and standards.
• Inspect work in the field and office, preparing summaries for presentation.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, vendors, and agencies.
