Job summary

Arup in Chicago is seeking a Senior Plumbing Engineer to lead design of plumbing and fire protection for diverse buildings. You will create SD/DD drawings in Revit, perform code analyses, specify equipment, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality designs.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering and 8+ years of plumbing/fire-protection experience; PE or ASPE CPD is preferred, with strong communication and mentoring skills and a focus on sustainable design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, architectural, civil, or environmental engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in the design and specification of plumbing and fire protection systems.
• Familiarity with UPC, IPC, IBC, ASPE standards, LEED Water Efficiency, NFPA.
• Experience designing a variety of building types including offices, hotels, data centers, labs.

Responsibilities

• Design plumbing and fire protection systems for buildings and structures; prepare drawings, schedules, floor plans, details and riser diagrams.
• Prepare SD/DD narratives; develop Revit drawings for DD and construction documents.
• Perform system design calculations, code analysis, and maintain design records.
• Coordinate with engineers and designers across multiple disciplines; mentor junior staff; support construction phase activities.
