Job summary

Salas O’Brien in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Senior Plumbing Engineer to provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of plumbing systems across multiple sectors including healthcare and commercial.

The role requires a PE license in NC or ability to obtain within 6 months, at least 15 years of design experience, and proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office; knowledge of codes and standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Active Professional Engineering license in NC, or ability to be licensed within 6 months.
• Minimum of 15 years design experience.
• LEED certification/experience is a plus, CPD is preferred.
• Experience with laboratories/medical facilities design is preferred; ASSE 6060 certification is a plus.
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
• Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines.
• Excellent work ethic, time management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design plumbing systems; familiarity with medical/laboratory piping and gases is a plus.
• Design performance specification for fire protection systems.
• Develop systems design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings.
• Prepare detailed design documents.
• Write/edit project specifications.
• Be responsible for code compliance research.
• Coordinate work with other disciplines.
• Work on site surveys to determine and document existing conditions.
• Provide support for construction administration services.
