Mannik Smith Group in Birmingham, AL seeks a Surveyor (PLS) to join the Survey/Geomatics team. This full-time, hybrid role requires leading transportation surveying projects and supervising a team, while coordinating with engineers and clients to meet goals.

Qualified candidates hold an Alabama PLS license with 8+ years of land surveying experience and proficiency in MicroStation, ORD and Civil 3D. A strong focus on design, safety and documentation is essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of land surveying experience, focused on transportation projects.
• Alabama PLS license is required.
• Proficient with surveying equipment and software (MicroStation, ORD, Civil 3D).
• Strong understanding of transportation design and survey requirements.
• Excellent project management and leadership skills.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage surveying projects, including roadways, bridges, utilities and related infrastructure.
• Supervise a team of surveyors, ensuring quality control and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
• Coordinate and collaborate with engineers, clients, and other stakeholders to meet project goals.
• Review and interpret survey data for design and construction purposes.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
• Manage project documentation, including survey reports, drawings, and permits.
• Conduct fieldwork when necessary, providing technical oversight and guidance.
• Ensure the safety of all team members and compliance with safety regulations in the field.
