Job summary

Forgent is seeking a Sr. Controls Engineer in Champlin, MN to lead PLC and HMI programming for Forgent products and processes. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and on-time delivery, with interaction across customers and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in engineering and 5+ years in control systems, with experience in PLC, HMI platforms, and industrial protocols. Travel locally may be required to support field needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
5+ years of engineering experience with control systems, automation, or related technologies.
Working knowledge of common industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet-based protocols).
Experience coordinating and managing technical aspects of customer projects.
Experience preparing technical proposals or supporting cost estimates.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and support programming for control systems including PLCs and HMIs.
Review customer requirements and project specifications for guidance to teams.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Develop training materials, documentation, and work instructions.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging products.
