Job summary

Ursa Major in Colorado is seeking a Controls Engineer II (PLC) to design, implement, and maintain custom automated equipment for propulsion production. You will work across benchtop tests to facility-scale systems, integrating motion, sensors, and PLC-based controls.

You will develop electrical schematics, P&ID, and SCADA interfaces, collaborate with Manufacturing, Test, Quality, Safety, and product teams, and contribute to internal standards.

Qualifications

• BS degree or higher in an engineering field; Mechatronics/chemical/mechanical preferred
• Experience designing single/multi-axis motion systems
• Experience with PLCs (Siemens S7 or equivalent)
• Experience developing systems for personnel-operated and unattended equipment
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal

Responsibilities

• Design safety-first systems handling hazardous fluids, powders, and energetics
• Understand functional test requirements for propulsion subassemblies
• Act as controls stakeholder through concept to validation of automated production equipment
• Integrate motion systems and third-party solutions to Ursa Major platforms
• Hands-on commissioning and generation of electrical schematics, P&ID, and operator manuals
