Job summary

Ursa Major is seeking a Controls Engineer II (PLC) to design, implement, and maintain custom automated equipment for propulsion production in Colorado. You will develop PLC programs, electrical schematics, instrumentation, and P&ID from concept through validation, ensuring safe, robust, and efficient production.

You will collaborate with Manufacturing, Test, Quality, Safety, and product owners, integrating motion systems and 3rd party solutions into the SCADA layer and supporting documentation.

Qualifications

• BS degree or higher in an engineering field (Mechatronic/chemical/mechanical preferred).
• Experience designing single/multi-axis motion systems.
• Experience with PLCs (Siemens S7 or similar).
• Experience developing systems for personnel-operated and unattended equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

• Design safety-first control systems for hazardous materials, fluids, and high-energy equipment.
• Develop PLC programs, electrical schematics, instrumentation, and P&ID from concept to validation.
• Integrate motion systems and third-party solutions into URSA Major control platforms and SCADA.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Test, Quality, Safety, and product owners throughout the lifecycle.
• Produce documentation including schematics, P&ID, manuals, and work instructions.
