Job summary

Checkout.com in Atlanta is seeking a seasoned Platform Underwriter with payments, due diligence and financial analysis experience to join our Platforms Underwriting team. You’ll underwrite applications for customers using Checkout.com’s platform, including Payment Facilitators, Marketplaces, and Staged Digital Wallet Operators.

You will collaborate with Commercial, Compliance, Risk, Legal teams and high‑value merchants, conduct D&L analyses, prepare risk summaries, mentor juniors, and drive

Qualifications

• Proficient-level understanding of Checkout's Platform offering and platform models.
• Expert-level financial statement analysis and credit exposure assessment.
• Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments balancing risk and reward.
• Competent escalation management to ensure timely resolutions.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities without impacting SLA.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Customer-first approach to delivering creative solutions.
• 6+ years of direct experience in financial analysis or merchant underwriting.
• 5+ years in due diligence, merchant underwriting, or equivalent.
• Experience with AML/CTF and underwriting/financial analysis.
• Domain experience in payments/fintech is preferable.
• Coaching or mentoring experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct business model analysis and holistic risk assessment of a customer’s profile.
• Perform customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence analysis (KYC/KYB/PEP, sanctions, adverse media).
• Analyze P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow for platform models and high‑risk sectors.
• Prepare summaries for internal stakeholders and risk committees with mitigants.
• Represent the Platform Underwriting team in calls with Sales or Account Managers.
• Approve individual credit submissions within authority.
• Identify operational issues and propose onboarding improvements.
• Mentor new or junior team members through training and coaching.
• Foster collaboration with Sales, Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams.
• Contribute to cross-functional projects and initiatives as needed.
